Welcome to Pharus Therapy
A few years back, after a combination of circumstances, including a serious family crisis, I decided to learn a new skill that involved learning how to help others overcome personal and mental health issues. Since this time, my journey has continued to include Psychotherapy, Hypnotherapy, Reiki I, II and III, and Mindfulness and it still continues today; to me the consciousness, the mind and the human psyche are just too fascinating and complex to ever stop learning and understanding.

Frequently Asked Questions
The first appointment is known as a consultation and is usually longer than a normal appointment. During this time, we discuss the presenting issues and the goals you would like to achieve. It is mainly a fact-finding exercise. During this session you will experience whether you feel comfortable working with me, and if we have rapport, which is essential to the success of the therapy. I will explain what hypnotherapy is and what (additional) methods we may include to help you achieve your goals. After a session, you may feel uplifted, lighter, and very relaxed. You may feel that it is easier to get into this relaxed state after a few experiences.
Hypnotherapy is one of the techniques we use at Pharus. Hypnosis is a heightened state of awareness, the natural state of the body in relaxation. When we are able to relax deeply enough then trained therapists can help change behaviours through positive suggestions. Hypnosis cannot happen without the permission of the recipient. The client is in full control at all times, and can come out of hypnosis, if the suggestions go against their beliefs.
During our time together we introduce techniques that can be applied daily and can be practiced at any time and safely. Mindfulness trains your brain to apply awareness, focus and attention which enhances your ability to create new positive habits and behaviours.
The answer to this question all depends on the issues presented, the therapy(ies) employed and the efforts you put in. Anxiety, phobias, bad habits and some behaviours can actually be dealt with in three and four sessions. When people are very receptive, they can experience significant changes in two sessions. Reiki, however, can be immediate and direct, depending on what is being treated. Reiki is an intelligent energy, where the practitioner simply channels the energy, such that the healing is achieved by the energy itself. Depression, anxiety, stress, trauma as well as other issues can all be helped by Reiki.
